Harry Dunn’s ‘killer’ Anne Sacoolas could be issued Interpol arrest notice or be tried without her there
HARRY Dunn's alleged killer could be issued with an Interpol arrest notice or be tried in the UK without being present, the family's spokesperson said today.
Radd Seiger said the Foreign Office were looking at a "number of options" after the US refused to extradite Anne Sacoolas from the US back to the UK.
Harry, 19 was killed when his motorbike crashed into a car outside a US military base in Northamptonshire on August 27 last year - but Mrs Sacoolas, 42, was allowed to return to America.
Harry's parents met with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab yesterday, and welcomed the talks.
Mr Seiger told BBC Radio 4 this morning: "They could try her in her absence, or issue an Interpol red notice so if she steps outside of the US she gets arrested and brought back.
"There are number of lawyers looking at all sorts of things.
"We are going to have to be patient."
He insisted that "nobody wants a court battle over this" if they could avoid it but Mr Raab was "incandescent with rage" over the saga.
"He made it clear he is absolutely going to tell Pompeo that Sacoolas has to come back.
"He looked the parents in the eyes and says he is going to demand her return."
Harry's parents met with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab yesterday, where they were assured he was "extremely supportive" of their ongoing fight.
Charlotte told the BBC: "You can see the anger in their eyes, they are not at all happy with the fact the extradition request was turned down.
"They really want to help us do everything they can."
She insisted that Mrs Sacoolas "needs to come back to the UK" and should not face punishment abroad.
"This diplomatic immunity, it doesn't matter whether she had it or not - it clearly states it doesn't cover her for this.
"She has evaded the crime by leaving the country."
Meanwhile Boris Johnson has warned President Trump that failing to extradite her would be a "denial of justice".
He "reiterated the need" for Mrs Sacoolas to return to the UK during a phone call with US President Donald Trump last Friday.
The news was welcomed by Harry's mum Charlotte Charles ahead of a visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo later this week.
