Girl, 5, dies from acute meth poisoning ‘after drinking from her mom’s bong’
A FIVE-year-old girl has died from meth poisoning after drinking from her mother's bong, court records say.
Sophia Larkson, from Rifle, Colorado, drank the tainted water after her mother, Stephanie Alvarado, 26, had been taking drugs on December 10 last year.
They are all charged with child abuse resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance and reckless endangerment, according to a Rifle police arrest warrant affidavit.
Sophia’s dad, Alec Larson, 23, had shared physical custody of her since separating with Alvarado more than a year ago because of her drug use.
“If they would have taken her when they saw my daughter drank that, she may have been a little slow and not right in the head - but my daughter would still be here with me today,” he said.
“I miss her every second, every day.”
