Two cops shot inside Walmart after mystery gunman opened fire before being gunned down

TWO police officers were shot this morning in a Walmart in Arkansas by a suspect who cops say was threatening to blow up the store.

The officers, with the Forrest City Police Department, were injured in a local Walmart while the suspect was shot dead inside, according to WREG-TV.

as Lt. Eric Varner and Det. Eugene Watlington, were both taken to nearby hospitals.

Varner was treated and released, and Watlington was taken into surgery. Police say the officer is expected to be OK.

One officer was airlifted to a nearby medical center and the other was transported to a local hospital.

The store was placed on lockdown and Arkansas State Police was investigating.

The suspect was said to be known to authorities, but police didn't release any information about who they are.

Earlier today, a police officer was shot in Salt Lake City, Utah after responding to a domestic dispute.

A woman had called police, and when they arrived on scene, a suspect began firing a weapon at cops, reported.

The officer was hospitalized in stable condition. He's expected to survive.

In New York City this weekend, two police officers were shot within 12 hours by a gunman who said he hates cops.
