Queen hit by second divorce in a week as Princess Margaret’s son the Earl of Snowdon splits from wife
THE Queen's nephew the Earl of Snowdon has announced he and his wife are to divorce in the second royal split in a week.
It comes six days after the Queen's grandson Peter Phillips announced his divorce from wife Autumn.
A spokesman for the earl, son of the late Princess Margaret, said: "The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced.
"They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family."
The Earl - David Armstrong-Jones - who is known for his high-end furniture company and wife Serena are to separate after more than 25 years of marriage.
The couple wed in October 1993 and have two children Viscount Linley, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.
The Earl's mother Margaret, the Queen's sister, died in 2002 and he became the 2nd Earl of Snowdon following the death of his father the Earl of Snowdon, celebrity photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, in 2017.
SECOND ROYAL DIVORCE
The annoucement is the second royal split in a week and comes after the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips is to separate from his wife Autumn Kelly.
Her Majesty is believed to be upset after Autumn, 41, told Princess Anne’s son, 42, she wants to split after 12 years of marriage.
Sports marketing consultant Peter, 42, and Autumn, 41, who is a management consultant, have two children – Savannah, nine and Isla, seven.
Autumn hails from Canada and some have raised concerns the mum-of-two may want to follow in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's footsteps.
Close friends suggested that Megxit – Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure from the UK to Canada – could have hastened Autumn’s shock decision.

WITH her grandson Peter Phillips also announcing his intention to divorce this month, the Queen’s recent torrid time shows no signs of letting up.
It is yet another blow after a spate of scandals and bad health.
Last November, Prince Andrew provoked outrage with his Newsnight interview over connections to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. In December, Prince Philip was hospitalised in the run-up Christmas. And last month, Harry and Meghan quit the Royal Family for Canada.

The peer was known as David Armstrong-Jones or Viscount Linley until his father Tony Armstrong-Jones, the society photographer who became the first Earl of Snowdon after marrying the Queen’s sister, died.
Lord Snowdon is a furniture maker and was previously the boss of top auction house Christie’s.
His parents married in 1960 and divorced in 1978.
