A HORRIFIC lorry crash on the M6 this morning has closed the motorway in both directions, causing chaos on the last day of half-term.
Two trucks collided with each other at junction 10 near Walsall leaving both the northbound and southbound carriageways blocked.
The northbound carriageway was reopened at around 3pm today but two lanes of the southbound carriageway will remain closed overnight.
Dramatic pictures show one lorry on its side in the road with debris scattered across the motorway.
A Central Motorway Police Group spokesman confirmed no injuries had been reported following the collision.
Highways England warned drivers that the closures and travel delays are expected to last into the afternoon while a "complex recovery takes place".
A spokesperson tweeted: "HGV and shed load require recovery, and diesel spillage will then need to be treated, along with barrier repairs."
Highways England also told football fans travelling to the Manchester United and Watford FC game, and Wolves and Norwich City FC game, to allow extra time for their journeys.
