Furious lag sparks security alert after refusing to LEAVE jail when sentence was up ‘because he had nowhere to go’
A FURIOUS con sparked a jail security alert when he refused to LEAVE prison.
Wayne McDonald, 39, would not come out of his cell at Wormwood Scrubs on the day he was due for release.
Stunned prison officers tried to persuade him to leave but then had to forcibly restrain him to get him off the premises.
A source said: “Staff had to hold him and frogmarch him out of the prison’s vehicle exit.
“He was kicking off in a big way. It’s thought he felt prison was a better bet because he didn’t have anywhere else to stay.
“He should have thought of that before ending up in jail in the first place.”
McDonald had been serving a short sentence at the jail in West London for breaching a restraining order. He was due out on February 28.
The source added: “The whole saga took a few hours to resolve.
“You sometimes get prisoners who feel very uncomfortable leaving but they’re normally lifers who don’t know the world they’re going back into.
