The demand came as every pub, restaurant and nightclub was ordered to be close by Boris Johnson.
Drinkers were seen enjoying one last night out on Friday evening before last orders were taken for possibly several weeks.
Cinemas, theatres and betting shops are also under orders to close to reduce the risks of mass gatherings.
The move follows a total lockdown across European countries despite it going against what the PM described as “the freedom-loving instincts” of the British people.
Tory MP David Morris, a former stylist who owned six salons, said: “Hairdressers don’t wear gloves when cutting hair."
"It’s impossible to do so."
“They touch other people on average 1,000 times per haircut."
