New Shadow Chancellor Anneliese Dodds gatecrashed by young daughter on live TV

THIS is the hilarious moment new Shadow Chancellor Anneliese Dodds’ live interview on coronavirus was gatecrashed by her young daughter.

The 42-year-old was speaking to Sky News’ Kay Burley live from her home in Oxford when her daughter Isabella opened the door and casually strolled in.

Ms Burley jokingly said: “Somebody wants to come and say hello to you while you’re on the telly.

“We’ve seen this happen before haven’t we?

“She’s welcome anytime on the programme.”

Mum-of-two Ms Dodds, who was given the prestigious Shadow Chancellor role yesterday, was able to laugh off the potentially awkward moment.

HILARIOUS INTERVIEW

Just seconds earlier, she had been discussing the very serious topic of the impact the coronavirus outbreak is having on the economy.

Ms Dodds, from Aberdeen, said: "We need to get to the best possible situation for dealing with the virus and then ensuring we have that economic support there for businesses and individuals that they need at this time."

At the end of the interview, she addressed her daughter's hilarious TV debut.

She said: "I thought she was going to stay asleep, sorry... so embarrassing.

"She's thankfully under the chair now."

This morning’s interview was reminiscent of a scene which went viral in 2017 when Professor Robert Kelly's kids invaded a live BBC News interview.

Professor Kelly was being interviewed live on BBC World News about the impeachment of South Korean president Park Geun-hye, when his daughter Marion, four, and nine-month-old son James burst in.

He was midway through answering presenter James Menendez's next question about Park Guen-hye when Marion, dressed in a bright yellow jumper, was seen opening the door behind him and wandering into the room.

She was swinging her arms happily as she walked over to her dad, who had clearly spotted her on his screen and attempted to push her backwards out of the way.

The broadcaster continued to ask his next question while pointing out: "I think one of your children has just walked in."

Meanwhile, nine-month-old James then came speeding into the room in his baby walker before the kids' panicked mum raced in to drag the cheeky duo away from the camera.

The live clip was viewed millions of times around the globe - and even sparked a flood of memes.

This morning's light-hearted clip comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson was rushed to hospital with coronavirus "as a precaution".

The 55-year-old's doctor told him to visit his local hospital after failing to shake off fever symptoms after ten days.

Aides confirmed he was spending the night there and would remain “as long as necessary”.

The move comes after aides became increasingly worried about his health as Mr Johnson continued to show symptoms more than a week after he tested positive.
