Armed cops put street on lockdown after ‘shooting’ sees man airlifted to hospital
ARMED cops have stormed a street in West Sussex after two men were injured amid reports of a stabbing and shooting today.
Two air ambulances and police with guns raced to East Grinstead at around 1.30pm.
One man was airlifted to hospital although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
There are reports on social media a shooting and stabbing took place but police say they are "investigating" reports of weapons being used.
One person tweeted: "So someone has been shot just up the road from our flat. We live in East Grinstead. WTF is happening to this world!"
Sussex Police are now hunting for a grey Fiat 500 after a number of people are believed to have fled the scene in the small car.

A spokesperson said: "Two men suffered injuries, the nature and the scale of which have not been fully established at this time, but are not currently thought to be life-threatening.
"It is believed that that the incident is confined to a small group of people.
"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 645 of 14/04."
