Police said some house parties had bouncy castles, DJs and fireworks. They were also made to attend 122 sports gatherings, 173 park gathering and 112 cases of antisocial behaviour.

The shocking figures add to fears coronavirus could run rampant this bank holiday weekend with scorching weather tempting Brits to break the quarantine.

GMP is pleading with people to follow the rules this and have enlisted key workers and celebrities to get the message across.

United's Marcus Rashford and Michael Carrick as well as Man City's Steph Houghton and boxer Anthony Crolla will make appeals.

Happy Mondays' star Shaun Ryder, Coronation Street's Dan Brocklebank, and Kyle Ross from Fuzzy Sun will also take part in the campaign.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “We understand the desire people will have to spend time with family and friends over the Easter period; however it is vital that we follow the government guidelines."

"Please don’t participate in other social gatherings inside or outside, no matter how big or small. We are trying to engage, explain, and encourage everyone to follow the Government guidance."

"However, where people do not comply with the guidelines, we will use the legislative powers. We hope that such actions will not be necessary and the public will work with us during this challenging time."
