Bring on the footie because we’re all going stir crazy during lockdown
Bring on footie
THE return of live TV sport may not seem the top priority in the context of this huge national effort to prevent Covid-19 killing thousands more of us.
But how much less grim the last month would have been if the nation still had footie to focus on.

So it’s hugely welcome that the Government hopes soon to get sport back up and running — albeit behind closed doors and subject to a battery of tests to keep players, officials and staff safe.
It will be weird without a soul there cheering them on.
A bit like a normal county championship cricket match.
But it will be far better than nothing . . . and almost certainly free to view too.
It might even allow the top leagues to finish their season, as well as keeping us all a bit saner as this crisis drags on.
Bring it on.

We have teamed up with NHS Charities Together in their urgent Covid-19 Appeal to ensure the money gets to exactly who needs it.
The Sun is donating £50,000 and we would like YOU to help us raise a million pounds, to help THEM. No matter how little you can spare, please donate today here: .
Crown jewels
ANY doubts about the future of our Royal Family beyond the Queen’s reign are surely now over.
Almost every senior member has performed admirably during the Covid disaster. Look at William, gamely joining in a TV comedy sketch before clapping for our carers, with Kate and the kids dressed in NHS blue.
Or Charles, recovered from coronavirus, doing the same with Camilla.
The Queen movingly addressed the nation.
Her husband Prince Philip, at 98, made a statement of solidarity with our key workers.
That is what duty looks like.
But, more than that, the Royals are demonstrating a love for our country and people which the vast majority of us will reciprocate.
The Queen may be a near-impossible act to follow as monarch.
Charles and William are showing they have what it takes.
Don’t blow it
THE lockdown is starting to crumble. We must not let it.
Most people are still abiding by social-distancing rules and the “stay home” edict. But more and more are not.
We understand the temptation.
We are all stir crazy.
The weather has been great.
If you have no symptoms, it’s hard to grasp why you can’t be out enjoying it.
The Government always feared we would tire of a lockdown just as deaths were still peaking.
That’s why they delayed it.
Other nations are now relaxing theirs — that may prove disastrous.
Home Secretary Priti Patel must get her tone right on Saturday.
The public will not welcome threats about harsher restrictions.
She must treat us like adults.
Explain how vital it still is to keep the infection rate down, or deaths will soar again and perhaps swamp the NHS.

But the Cabinet must bust a gut to work out how to safely release as many as possible from this house arrest in a fortnight.
For now, heed the advice:
Stay home, save lives. Don’t inject bleach.
