Yesterday the carnival's board announced that it will not take place, although police are now braced for up to 100,000 revellers holding an alternative party.

Some 1,500 riot squad cops will be on standby in West London over August bank holiday.
It is feared a “hardcore element” will try and do their own thing after the carnival was axed for the first time in 54 years.
The carnival is the latest in a string of summer calendar events to have been called off as a result of Covid-19, including the Glastonbury festival and the Tokyo Olympics.
Organisers did however say they're working on holding a celebration on the same weekend in an alternative form.

They added: "We, of course, work very closely with them for carnival and want to take this opportunity to express our utmost respect, admiration and gratitude for their work."
"We look forward to welcoming you back to the streets of Notting Hill in 2021."
