Armed police order neighbours to ‘stay inside’ as cops surround flats in Hull
ARMED police ordered residents to "stay inside" as they surround a housing estate in Hull.
Humberside police surrounded flats in Southcoates on Sunday in search of a suspect involved in a fatal stabbing.
Witnesses reported seeing around ten police vehicles in a street just off Holderness Road at around midday on Sunday.
One resident told : "It is scary. The full street is cordoned off and armed police have turned up."
Initially cops said they were in search of a suspect involved in a "serious assault" on Saturday evening.
Humberside Police later revealed the operation in Durham Street resulted in a 31-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident at an address on Newland Court in west Hull in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said: “Our officers were called at 3.14am to the address where a man had been stabbed multiple times in the arm and back. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
“Specialist officers, including armed officers and police negotiators attended an address on Brandon Court in Hull later this morning where the suspect was located and arrested, after initially refusing to leave the house."
