Robbery victim mows down hammer-wielding crooks in his van and makes them pull down their trousers so they can’t escape
Two of the crooks were run over and cornered but one of them still remains at large
THIS is the heart-stopping moment a vigilante van driver chases off three would-be robbers with hammers, punching, kicking and running them over in the process.
Kofi Asiad ran down the men in Paterson, New Jersey, after they tried to rob him.
In the dim parking lot, three men armed with hammers approach the van with Mr Asiad sat inside, one of them demanding money.
He told ABC News: "I hear the rear window shatter, so I turn around to see what happened and the minute I turn my head, the Spanish guy shatters the driver's side window."
After the men approach, Mr Asiad quickly starts his van.
Two of the suspects run in a frantic attempt to escape, but Mr Asiad rams them both into the wall.
One gets up and tries to stumble away, but Mr Asiad knocks him to the floor with one brutal punch.
Soon after, both of the suspects are on the ground and subjected to a flurry of punches and kicks.
Eventually, Mr Asiad demands they remove their trousers so they cannot escape.
He said: "It was the only way I could think of subduing them."
The victim was taken to local police headquarters to make a statement.
Nefy Marte and Maraquan Adamson, both of Paterson, were transported to St Joseph's hospital for treatment.
Marte, 24, and Adamson, 22 have been charged with robbery, but the third suspect remains at large.
