THE world's oldest living billionaire from America's famous Rockefeller family has secretly been in this country just days before his 101st birthday, The Sun can reveal.
David Rockefeller, the world famous banker and statesman and only surviving son of the legendary John D Rockefeller Jr, made a private trip to London earlier this month.
He paid an emotional farewell to England, meeting with close friends and acquaintances in what is believed could be his last trip to Britain.
The 100 year-old is estimated to be worth $3 billion (£2.7m) and ranks among the 200 richest people in the world.
He flew into the UK by private jet and was staying in a luxury suite at Claridges Hotel in the capital.
And to celebrate his forthcoming 101st birthday whilst in England, Rockefeller is believed to have thrown a lavish dinner celebration for friends and family at the Michelin starred restaurant Pied a Terre in Fitzrovia.
The elderly former statesman, who was born in June 1915, is said to have had an exquisite French meal with fine wines at Pied a Terre, which is famed for its cervich of scallops.
It is said Rockefeller rented the lavish private dining area at Pied a Terre at the weekend, which is a favourite hideaway for celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Tony Blair, Brad Pitt, Colin Firth and Kanye West.
Rockefeller, whose family are revered in the United States and who has iconic landmarks named after his family - such as Rockefeller Plaza in New York - is believed to have flown home to the US a couple of days ago.
He was educated at Harvard and the London School of Economics in the depression era of the early 1930s.
The giant of business, who served as chairman and chief executive of Chase Manhattan Corporation, is the patriarch and oldest living member of the Rockfeller family.
They are regarded one of the most powerful families, if not the most powerful family, in the history of America.
Most of their fortune was accrued through the oil business during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In recent times the Rockfellers have moved away from fossil fuels for moral and ecological reasons, funded millions of dollars worth of eco projects.
The family helped build iconic landmarks such as the Museum of Modern Art and the World Trade Centre.
He is the last surviving member of the five famous Rockfeller brothers, John, Nelson, Laurance and Winthrop.
