reports that she howled in pain as she was attacked during a four-minute beating at the notorious Foston Hall women’s prison.

A source told the newspaper: “There had been a lot of talk about attacking Smith, but most people wouldn’t go through with it as they don’t want time added on to their sentences.

"But these two really went for it and left her in a bad way.”

The jail housed Magdalena Luczak who hanged herself last year after being locked up for killing four-year-old son Daniel Pelka in Coventry in 2012.

Moors Murderer Myra Hyndley and Soham liar Maxine Carr were also held at the Derbyshire jail which houses 300 prisoners.

The 23-year-old was caged for life after the brutal murder of her toddler daughter Ayeeshia Jane Smith.

A court heard how tiny Ayeeshia pleaded “stop mummy, stop daddy” and died after suffering injuries normally seen in car crash victims.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “On Thursday 14th April a prisoner at HMP Foston Hall was allegedly involved in an incident involving two other offenders.

“There is no evidence a weapon was used but the prisoner suffered minor injuries and was treated in the prison.

“The incident was reported to the police and the prison began disciplinary action against those involved.”

Ayesshia’s stepdad Matthew Rigby, 22, was found guilty of causing the "happy and smiley" toddler's death, but not guilty of murder.

Little Ayeeshia, known as AJ, suffered a fatal collapse at home just over three weeks after Derbyshire County Council social services had discussed taking the youngster into care over fears Smith was a victim of domestic abuse.

Smith wept uncontrollably in the dock, dabbing away the tears after the jury convicted her of cruelty and subjecting her only child to such a violent end.

She launched a frenzied attack on her little girl, causing the tot to bite through her own tongue and suffer a torn heart.

Tragic Ayeeshia suffered months of abuse at the hands of Smith but died after the drug-taking mum stamped on her chest on May 1, 2014.

Smith dialled 999 and told the operator her daughter had suffered a seizure and paramedics dashed to her flat.
