Masked thug douses kitchen in fuel before setting huge blaze
SHOCKING video shows a thug in a motorcycle helmet burning down a bakery in a sickening arson attack.
They calmly douse the room in fuel before tossing a flame to the ground.
A huge fire breaks out with fire spreading across the kitchen, as the attacker ducks out of a side door.
The arsonist even deliberately covers up the bakery’s smoke alarms to prevent them sounding a warning.
Police have launched a manhunt after the attack was caught on CCTV at the Tavazo bakery in Finchley, north London.
The new shop was just one day away from its grand opening.
Owner brothers Shari Roberto and Mehram Armando said £50,000 worth of food and equipment has been ruined.
Mr Roberto, who lives in Ealing, told local media: “I was shaking – I was in tears and angry at the same time.
“As I raced over there I was panicking and confused, wondering why this is happened.
“We are both upset and angry that someone could do this to us right before we were meant to open.
“It is sickening to think someone could have got hurt.
“It’s heart breaking. It didn’t seem real until we got there and smelled the smoke.”
The pair, who also own another bakery in Ealing, have vowed to reopen.
Mr Roberto added: “We are going to open still – we are not going to crumple. We will get back to how it was three days ago and open as quickly as we can.”
London Fire Brigade needed eight pumps to bring the blaze under control.
A spokesman from Barnet police said: “Police were called at 5.30am on Monday, 14 March to Tavazo bakery, Ballards Lane, Finchley following reports of a fire and criminal damage.
“The fire was believed to have started just before 5am.
“CCTV footage captured the suspect approaching the rear door of the premises, opening it and then walking around dousing the floor with a flammable liquid from a black fuel container.”
The suspect was wearing a distinctively patterned crash helmet, jacket trousers, gloves and black and white trainers.
Police are asking for anyone with information to get in touch.
