Remains found at EgyptAir crash site ‘point to an explosion on board’

Senior Egyptian forensic official says it is the 'logical explanation' after the biggest body part was the 'size of a palm'

INVESTIGATORS have reportedly found human remains at the EgyptAir 804 crash site that indicate there was an explosion on board.

A senior Egyptian forensic official says that is the "logical explanation" after examining victims' remains.

He says all 80 pieces brought to a Cairo morgue in about 23 bags so far are small and "there isn't even a whole body part, like an arm or a head."

They said "the biggest part was the size of a palm" and that "the logical explanation is that it was an explosion".

The unnamed forensics official added: "The size of the remains points towards an explosion, the biggest part was the size of a palm.

"Some of the remains started arriving on Sunday in about 23 bags."

All 66 people on board were killed when the Airbus 320 crashed in the Mediterranean early Thursday while en route from Paris to Cairo.

A frantic search is under way to find the plane's black box which holds the key to what happened and has just 25 days of battery life left.

Andrew Craig, a senior project manager with Odyssey Marine Exploration, told NBC News: "The biggest challenge they face right now is listening for and locating those black boxes.

"And to do that, they need the pinger location."

Earlier today an air traffic official denied Greek claims that doomed EgyptAir flight MS804 swerved and lost altitude before vanishing over the Med.
