She was allegedly killed in the city of Jamshoro in Pakistan’s Sindh district.

The 24-year-olds body was found mutilated and severe head injuries had been inflicted on the young woman.

It has been reported that the woman was tortured before she died.

According to Arab News, a senior police official said the woman was found dead following a row with her husband’s family involving the tribal tradition of “watta satta” or bride exchange.

'GIVE AND TAKE'

“Watta Satta”, a practice commonly found in Pakistan and Afghanistan, is when a brother-sister pair is married off to the same family.

The custom of "Watta Satta", which translates to “give and take,” has long been criticised by human rights organizations due to its underlying threat of retaliation and violence to women when family feuds occur.

Her father, Gul Muhammad, initially told police that her death was an accident.

However, Muhammad later retracted his statement and alleged that she was killed by her husband and his brother.

The husband, Allah Baksh and his brother Kareem Baksh have been arrested and remain in police custody.

According to the results of an initial post-mortem report, Waziran was killed by a blunt weapon.

The police are waiting for more conclusive results.

Pakistani human rights lawyer Ayaz Latif Palijo shared a video on Twitter purporting to show Waziran’s dad weeping over her grave.

He wrote: “The rural feudal and tribal areas of Pakistan have been turned into killing fields for women.”

Last month, a 19-year-old Iranian woman was allegedly beheaded by her husband after she ran away from him days after they got married.

The 23-year-old man tracked her down after a year of searching, Iran International TV reported.

He reportedly beheaded the woman and left her decapitated body next to the Bahmanshir River.

He afterwards handed himself in to police in the city of Abadan, holding a bloody knife and telling officers that he had killed his wife due to infidelity.
