Girl, 14, dies after being doused in petrol and set alight by uncle after father turned down marriage to her cousin
A 14-year-old girl was doused with petrol and then burned alive by her uncle after her father stopped her from marrying her cousin.
The girl, called Sadia, was killed after her father Mohammad Yousuf rebuffed the idea from his brother Mohammad Yaqoob of her marrying Yaqoob's son.
The father had already promised the girl to another relative months before in the tragic family affair in Chiniot, Punjab in Pakistan.
Police claim that the uncle waited for her to return home on Friday before confronting the 14-year-old and throwing petrol all over her.
The sick uncle then set her alight in a devastating and sickening attack.
Police added that no one was home and she was left to suffer alone.
Sadia managed to rush to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Some report say the family attempted to cover up the murder claimed the girl had been caught in a gas explosion.
Police found contradictory statements in accounts from other family members.
When they interviewed the uncle, he confessed.
