Heartbroken Meghan Markle sent her dad one final text the night before her wedding day
A HEARTBROKEN Meghan Markle sent her dad one final text message the night before her wedding, a new biography has claimed.
Sadly Thomas Markle didn’t respond, according to new book ‘Finding Freedom’, which tells the story of how Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down from the Royal Family.
Harry, 35, and his 38-year-old wife now live in Los Angeles with their 14-month-old son Archie after stepping down from royal duties in March.
New excerpts of the books in the, looks at the attention focused on Thomas Markle in the run up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018.
He was due to walk his daughter down the aisle but it emerged that he posed for fake photographs that were sold to newspapers around the world.
Meghan was desperate for him to attend the wedding but ‘Finding Freedom’ tells of how she left dozens of frantic messages for him telling him a car would take him to Los Angeles airport so he could fly to London.
Sensational claims made in Finding Freedom include:
- Harry branded William a ‘snob’ for warning him to be careful about ‘this girl’ Meghan
- Meghan and Harry felt “cut adrift” and were frustrated at Prince William and Kate Middleton getting the ‘plum’ jobs
- The former actress moaned she had given up her life for the Royal Family
- Prince Harry compared fronting up to the royal institution to being in front of a firing squad
- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were frustrated the Queen would not meet them earlier to discuss their demands
- Meghan was dubbed Harry’s “showgirl” who “comes with a lot of baggage” by senior royals.
But despite Meghan’s “barrage of voicemails and text messages”, he refused to get in the waiting car to the airport.
And he didn’t respond to messages from his daughter after she called him “at least 20 times”, according to the book.
Mr Markle then began making a series of bizarre statements to the press and he eventually said the stress of dealing with the media had caused him to have a heart attack.
Finally he told her he wouldn’t be coming to the wedding and only her mother Doria would be there.
“If it wasn’t for Harry, Doria and her friends, Meghan herself says that she wouldn’t have mentally got through it,” a friend said.
“The night before the wedding, she sent her father one last text. He did not reply,” the book says.
“Sitting in a bath later that night, FaceTiming with a friend, the bride-to-be said she had left her dad a final message, adding: ‘I can’t sit up all night just pressing send’.”
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, described as cheerleaders for the pair, are said to have been given access to their inner circle to write Finding Freedom.
Royal expert Omid Scobie has written the 320-page biography of the couple with journalist Catherine Durand.
A spokesman for Harry and Meghan said the pair did not contribute to Finding Freedom, but he did not deny the content of extracts.
