Meghan Markle’s wedding tiara row DID happen… but she blames the Queen’s favourite dresser, new book claims

MEGHAN Markle's wedding tiara row DID happen - but she blames the Queen's favourite dresser, the authors of new book Finding Freedom claim.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who wrote the tell-all biography, say Harry felt the Queen's dresser Angela Kelly deliberately dragged her feet in helping Meghan choose a tiara for their 2018 wedding day.

Angela Kelly, 52, has worked with the Queen since 2002 and is now her personal assistant and senior dresser having risen through the ranks.

She is known to have stuck by the Queen through thick and thin - and the latest claims suggest she even supported Her Majesty's decision to pick Meghan's wedding tiara.

It comes after a previous book by reporter Robert Jobson revealed Harry told staff before the couple's wedding: “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”

The Queen even reportedly warned her grandson over Meghan's attitude in the lead up to the big day at Windsor Castle in May.

Meghan initially wanted a tiara that featured emeralds, according to royal sources.

But the future Duke and Duchess of Sussex were unhappy when told her first choice was impossible, as no one knew exactly where it came from.

An insider said at the time: "There was a very heated exchange that prompted the Queen to speak to Harry.

"She said, ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants. She gets what tiara she’s given by me’."

In the end, the future royal wore Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau made in 1932 for the big day.

And Finding Freedom, which is due for release next month, is said to shed new light on the row, highlighting "the friction between the couple and the old palace guard," reports.

MEGHAN 'EMBOLDENED' HARRY

It comes as authors Scobie and Durand claim Meghan "emboldened" Harry to quit royal life, with Finding Freedom shedding new light on their decision to step down.

The authors write: "While the British media often blamed royal wives, in Harry's case, he was very much on board with distancing himself from the public eye.

"It's why he gravitated to the military, avoided the pomp as much as he could, and didn't give his child a title."

Omid Scobie also told : "Meghan emboldened Harry.

"He needed someone by his side that is strong enough to weather the same storms, but also someone who wasn't afraid of breaking the rules and going against the norm.

"What we see now is a couple doing things their own way."

Durand added: "What has struck me is Harry's commitment to put his royal birthright aside and use his voice to make a difference.

"In Meghan he found a partner in that."

Bombshell book claims include:

Their comments follow claims that Harry and Meghan face permanent exile from the Royal Family after extracts from the book revealed a bitter rift with The Firm.

Finding Freedom, which was serialised over the weekend in the Sunday Times, has laid bare family disputes with the monarchy and is believed to have ruined any hopes of returning to royal duties when Megxit is reviewed.

A royal household source said: "The door will always be open to them as much-loved members of the family.

"But it's hard to see how they can now salvage the new role they wanted as 'hybrid' royals, running commercial careers alongside royal duties from the US."

The pair deny giving interviews to authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand or in any way contributing.

But the book is littered with intimate anecdotes that only the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, or their very closest friends, would know.

It makes a string of complaints about the Royal Family and has re-opened wounds between the LA-based couple and The Firm.

ROYAL LAUNDRY AIRED

tells how Meghan was driven to Harry's cottage in Kensington Palace for a cosy night in after he told a pal she was "ticking every box fast".

She had joked after a recent two-year relationship ended before her first visit to London, she'd be happy with "a nice English gentleman to flirt with".

Harry was left "in a trance" after meeting Meghan for their first date, a pal claimed in the book.

The pair were "in their own little world" for three hours over beers and martinis at London's Dean Street Townhouse, after being introduced by a friend.

The couple have never shared who it was who set them up on that first date, and within days of the meeting Meghan began to hint at the blossoming relationship.

She posted on Instagram a photo of a Love Hearts candy saying “Kiss Me” with the caption “Lovehearts in #London” - a possible message to Harry.
