Local lockdown map: Full list of areas affected by the new rules

NEW local lockdown restrictions were announced late on July 30, affecting 4.5 million people living in the North West of England.

The announcement came just hours before it was implemented, causing mass confusion.

What local areas are affected?

Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced on Thursday, July 30, that Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire would see their lockdown rules restricted from midnight.

From July 31, members of different households are now outlawed from meeting in private gardens or indoors, including homes, pubs and restaurants.

Greater Manchester

There have been dramatic week-on-week jumps in the number of cases per 100,000 people in Manchester.

  • City of Manchester
  • Trafford - up from 15.2 to 41.0, with 97 new cases
  • Stockport
  • Oldham - up from 23.3 to 54.3, with 128 new cases
  • Bury
  • Wigan
  • Bolton
  • Tameside
  • Rochdale
  • Salford

Lancashire

In Blackburn with Darwen, the case rate has risen from 83.3 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 20, to 89.3 in the seven days to July 27.

A total of 133 new cases have been recorded.
