Alleged victim Virginia Giuffre was asked what Prince Andrew knew about Epstein, with unsealed documents revealing she said: "He would know a lot of the truth.
“Again, I don’t know how much he would be able to help you with, but seeing he’s in a lot of trouble himself these days, I think he might, so I think he may be valuable.”
Andrew has been accused in the documents of being the "powerful individual" disgraced financier Epstein's "sex slave" Ms Giuffre was forced to have sex with.
The he is also accused of having "an orgy with numerous other under-aged girls".
The royal hasn't offered a comment since his old friend was arrested and charged with grooming and trafficking underage girls for Epstein.
Maxwell, 58, has been a close friend of the prince for about 30 years.
The duke has been keeping a low profile at his Windsor home after he was unceremoniously forced to step back from public life in November over his links to Epstein.
The Sun Online has gone to Buckingham Palace for comment.
ROYAL LINKS
It's been reported Prince Andrew was involved in a war of words with the US authorities over whether he will assist their investigation into the sex crimes of paedophile Epstein.
The financier hanged himself in a New York jail cell last summer.
Last month, the US Attorney General Bill Barr said that Andrew must speak to the FBI and his team "definitely" want to interview him.
In explosive court documents revealed this week it is claimed Andrew “put pressure on the US government to give Jeffrey Epstein a plea deal” when he was charged in 2007 with soliciting a minor for prostitution.
The papers, part of a 2015 defamation case settled between Ms Giuffre and Maxwell, said: “Perhaps even more important to her role in Epstein’s sexual abuse ring, Maxwell had direct connections to other powerful individuals with whom she could connect Epstein.
“One such powerful individual Epstein forced Jane Doe #3 to have sexual relations with was a member of the British Royal Family, Prince Andrew.
'POWERFUL INDIVIDUAL'
"Jane Doe #3 was forced to have sexual relations with this Prince when she was a minor in three separate geographical locations: in London (at Ghislaine Maxwell’s apartment), in New York, and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands (in an orgy with numerous other under-aged girls).
"Epstein instructed Jane Doe #3 that she was to give the Prince whatever he demanded and required Jane Doe #3 to report back to him on the details of the sexual abuse."
In the explosive documents Ms Giuffre described Maxwell's breasts and public hair in detail.
Ms Giuffre has claimed that she had sex with Prince Andrew in a toilet when she was 17, after a night where he had been plying her with vodka in a posh London club.
She claims she first met royal dad-of-two Prince Andrew on a trip to London in 2001 when she was 17, with Epstein and Maxwell also there.
Roberts says she was 18 when she had her third alleged sexual encounter with the royal on Little St James Island.
The Prince has strongly denied having sex with her in London and New York, and a year later at an orgy on Epstein’s private island in the Virgin Islands.
