Teenage boy sneaks into hold of Emirates flight to Dubai to try and seek his fortune in the Arab state
16-year-old was told by others that he could earn tens of thousands of pounds begging on the street
A PLUCKY 16-year-old managed to sneak his way onto a flight from China to Dubai in order to seek his fortune.
The teen, identified by Xinhua News Agency as Xu, evaded security by jumping a fence at Shanghai airport.
Intrepid Xu secreted himself in the hold of an Emirates Airline plane in the hope that he could earn thousands in the Middle East.
He was discovered by airport officials after the plane landed in Dubai.
The brave youngster had survived an eight hour flight in the hold of the aircraft.
He had been told by others that he could make tens of thousands of pounds a year by begging on the streets of the affluent city.
A spokesman for Emirates said: “We are co-operating fully with authorities in Dubai and as this is a police matter we are unable to comment further at this time.”
The plane that the young boy snuck onto was an Airbus A380, the largest craft in the Emirates fleet.
It is unknown in what condition the boy was found.
The airline runs two round-trip flights from Shanghai to Dubai a day.
Stowing away in the hold of an airplane is extremely dangerous and often fatal.
In February, a man died after trying to hide in the hold of a cargo plane.
It is unknown where he snuck on, but the man's body was discovered during a flight from Munich, Germany to Durban, South Africa.
Airline staff only realised that the man was there when blood started to drip from the bottom of the plane.
