‘I saw tube knife nut cut man’s neck open’: Witness of crazed extremist attack at tube station gives horrifying testimony

Jury hears how tube knifeman Mire cut victim's throat so brutally they heard his skin 'rip open'

A TUBE knifeman left his victim’s windpipe exposed as he tried to behead him, a jury heard yesterday.

Muhiddin Mire allegedly used a blunt bread knife to “saw” at a man’s neck.

Witnesses told the Old Bailey they heard US musician Lyle Zimmerman’s skin “ripping open”.

The court heard that when passer-by Louise McGuinness yelled at Mire, 30, to stop, the alleged Muslim fanatic pointed the knife at her and said: “You’re next.”

She said in a statement: “I watched as he began to saw through the man’s neck.”

Mr Zimmerman, 56, screamed for help after being set upon by a “crazy person” at Leytonstone Tube station in East London.

He survived his “life-threatening injuries” thanks to passing junior doctor Matthew Smith.

Dr Smith said the “deep” wound exposed Mr Zimmerman’s windpipe.

He admitted being “really very scared” and added: “I feared for my own safety.”

Mr Zimmerman told the court: “I feel I was very lucky with the junior doctor passing by.”

Jurors heard former Uber cab driver Mire, who has a history of mental health problems, ranted about Syria during his rampage.

He was tasered by cops, who found pictures of IS executioner Jihadi John and butchered soldier Lee Rigby on his mobile phone.
