A BRIT arrested over the balcony plunge death of his ex-girlfriend told pals he begged her not to jump.
Kerry Roberts, 25, died instantly after falling from a 12th floor apartment in Tenerife in the early hours of Friday morning.
Cops are treating her death as a suspected suicide and her ex, David Jones, 33, claims he pleaded with her not to jump for the sake of their five-year-old daughter.
A family friend said: “He said he was trying to call her back from the balcony but she wouldn't listen.
“They had a row over her seeing her ex-boyfriend and things got out of hand.
“She went to the balcony and threatened to jump, but David didn’t think she’d actually do it.
“He is devastated that some people think he might have pushed her.
“He said he was powerless to stop her.”
Paramedics were unable to save Kerry when they arrived at the Aparments Paraiso del Sur, in Adeje, shortly after 2am.
They were alerted by David and his father and found her body on a lawn under their apartment.

David was arrested and bailed by cops on suspicion of domestic violence due to CCTV footage of his ex being kicked and punched before the pair entered their apartment.
He is due to appear in court on Monday and told pals he wants to return home to escape his “nightmare”.
Kerry and David had a daughter together five years ago but ended their relationship two years later.
Floral tributes were laid outside the tragic mum’s church on Sunday.
Bunches of flowers with touching note cards were placed outside St James’ Church in Lockleaze, Bristol.
One card on a bunch of flowers from Kerry’s boyfriend Tommy Lane, 21, paid tribute to the tragic mum.
A card from him and his family said: “Kerry, you were taken too soon.
“I’ll always cherish our memories.
“I love you forever and always.
“Lots of love xxxxxxx.”
Rev Dave Jeal, who is also chaplain for Bristol Rovers Football Club, said Kerry’s death “rocked the community”.
He said: “We’re a very tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone.
“Kerry’s mum is in bits.
“The family are devastated.”
