British businessman arrested on suspicion of murder after ‘mistress’ shot dead at luxury home
Richard Alden took Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui to hospital claiming she shot herself but gun wound was in her back
A WEALTHY British businessman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Kenya after a woman was shot at his luxury home.
Police were called in after Richard Alden took Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui to hospital claiming she'd shot herself in the exclusive suburb of Karen, Nairobi.
By the time officers arrived, the victim – who had suffered gunshot and stab wounds as well as broken fingers – had already died.
Officers quickly dismissed Alden’s story, after doctors said she had been shot from behind and stabbed in the back, reports the MailOnline.
The former executive for financial services company Deloitte was then taken into custody for questioning.

Married Alden and Miss Kinyanjui are rumoured to have been having an affair after meeting through a local hiking group.
Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome reported the couple were in a relationship and living together.
However conflicting reports claimed Alden still lived with his wife Martine - who he has three grown up children with.
The married couple are believed to have lived in London before leaving to live abroad.
One report claimed Miss Kinyanjui, who ran a security firm, was at the house helping Alden and his wife pack for an upcoming move.
Yesterday police told local media sources that Miss Kinyanjui’s injuries were consistent with murder.
They said there was a bullet wound in the back of her head and she had three open wounds on the left side of her neck.
She also had a fractured left thumb and ring finger and had been stabbed in the back.
Mr Koome said: "They were the only people in the house and when crime officers went there they also found a blood-stained towel in the dressing room where the murder took place. It is murder and he is in custody for that."
The Police Commander said they were alerted to the incident by Alden’s guards who said they saw him drag a lifeless body to his car which he then took to hospital.
Police raided Alden’s home and recovered a spent cartridge and a pistol with 34 live bullets.
Alden allegedly told officers that he and the victim were to travel to Nanyuki where he planned to settle on a farm he had bought.
According to reports, Alden was CEO of ONO, the largest cable television and telecommunications operator in Spain, from 1998 to 2009.
