When can bowling alleys reopen in the UK?

Bowling alleys can reopen from August 15, after bowlers were forced to wait an two extra weeks.

They were set to reopen on August 1 in England, along with casinos and ice skating rinks, but the date was set back.

But they are on the list of services that can reopen over the weekend, along with ice skating rings, casinos and soft play areas.

Music venues, comedy clubs and theatres can also throw open their doors as restrictions are lifted.

How will social distancing work at bowling alleys?

Staff will be cleaning bowling balls before and after each game with sanitiser on-hand for customers.

Every other lane will also be closed to allow for social distancing.

Players will be capped at six per lane - as opposed to eight before the pandemic.

People will also be encouraged to bring their own bowling shoes, but they will still be available to rent.

What should I do if I work in a bowling alley?

Employees should be trained regarding the new guidelines to ensure guests are in compliance with the new measures.

Contact your manager to find out more information about training before returning to work.

New hand-washing routines are expected to be introduced and staff are likely to be told to wear mask.
