Horror injuries suffered by pensioner in her 70s left with fractured skull when yobs hurled a brick through taxi window

A PENSIONER'S shocking injuries have been revealed two weeks after her skull was fractured when yobs lobbed bricks at a taxi.
Footage taken inside the cab showed the passenger being hit on the forehead after the missile - previously thought to have been a rock - smashed through the window.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was taken to hospital where she was treated after the attack in Yardley, Birmingham, at 10pm on 25 May.
She had been out for the evening celebrating a family member's birthday with her partner before the incident.
The cab driver wrote on Facebook: "These were BRICKS not stones and also NOT KIDS....they appear to be around 18 - 20 yrs of age.
"Look at the poor lady's face almost 2 weeks on."
Speaking to Sun Online, he said: "I'd picked the pair up from the Birmingham Hippodrome at 10.17pm.
"They'd had a lovely evening as they informed they not go out much and it was a treat for the one's birthday from a family member."
Officers are trawling CCTV to identify those responsible and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.
Seven cars were also damaged by the yobs.
Inspector Steven Rice, from Harborne police station, : “This completely reckless behaviour has resulted in someone being injured.

“It is only by chance that we are not dealing with something more serious, someone could have been killed.
“We believe that they were targeting black cabs and taxi drivers and we want to reassure the taxi driving community that we are taking action to prevent a recurrence.
“We have increased police patrols to stop this happening again and we are determined to catch those responsible.
“This woman was seriously injured and I would appeal to anyone who knows who is responsible to call me or one of my team with names.
“I would also appeal to those responsible to consider their actions and do the right thing and come forward so we can speak to you. It is only a matter of time before we come knocking at your door.”

Police have been granted an emergency order allowing officers to remove groups of people from the area who are thought to be involved in anti-social behaviour.
