Piers Morgan slams Harry Maguire’s ‘shockingly poor leadership’ after Mykonos ‘fight’
PIERS Morgan has slammed Man Utd captain Harry Maguire after he was arrested following an alleged drunken brawl in Mykonos.
The firebrand Good Morning Britain host tore into the £85million centre-back, 27, who spent two nights in a cell before appearing in court today.
Morgan - a devout Arsenal fan - tweeted: "Manchester United’s captain has been arrested for drunkenly brawling with police officers more times than he’s won a trophy since being with the club.
"Admire Harry Maguire as a player but this is shockingly poor leadership. Especially during a pandemic."
It came after Maguire was arrested following a fight outside a bar in Mykonos on Friday.
Maguire will now return to the UK ahead of a hearing on Tuesday in Syros, which he does not have to attend.
But he must first make his way back to Mykonos on a 50-minute boat ride to apologise for the drama, local media reports.
He has denied the charges against him.
The row erupted when Maguire was apparently taunted by rival fans after a marathon drinking session.
His sister Daisy was then stabbed in the arm with a "sharp object" - causing the England star to step in and defend her, reports.
A mass brawl then allegedly broke out between Maguire and his mates and the other group of Brit holidaymakers in trendy Fabrika.
But when plain-clothed police came to break up the fight, the Utd captain was allegedly "verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him".
Two cops suffered facial injuries during the scrap after they were allegedly hurled to the ground, punched and kicked, police say.
The footballer, who rakes in around £190,000-a-week, then reportedly tried to bribe officers.
The star and two others, aged 28 and 29, are accused of bodily harm and "serial insult".
Maguire and a pal are have also been charged with serial bribery and violence against officials.
The £190,000-a-week defender faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
Maguire has been enjoying a boozy break on the luxury Greek island before the new season kicks off next month.
He has popped up at various bars in trendy Fabrika where he was filmed downing booze with his celeb pals.
The Sheffield-born star became the world's most expensive defender when he signed for Utd from Leicester City for £85million in August last year.
He was named captain in January this year following Ashley Young's departure to Inter Milan.

Man Utd said today: "Following the appearance in court today we note the adjournment of the case to allow the legal team to consider the case file.
"Harry has pleaded not guilty to the charges. It would be inappropriate for the player or club to comment further while the legal process takes its course."
