Father-in-law blasts ‘hypocrite’ Steve Double as he resigns as deputy chairman of local Tory party association
Phil Bunt slams politician after helping him campaign to win his Cornwall seat last year on platform of family values
LOVE rat MP Steve Double was called a hypocrite last night by the father-in-law of the aide he romped with.
Phil Bunt was furious after the ex-pastor, wed 30 years, admitted bedding 26-year-old Sarah Bunt – wife of Phil’s son Matt.
Mr Bunt last night quit as deputy chairman of the Tory party association in St Austell and Newquay, where Double, 49, is MP.
He campaigned to help the Tory win his Cornwall seat last year on a platform of family values.
Mr Bunt, 61, said: “He has let many people down and shown himself to be hypocritical when getting elected on the basis of his stated position as a family man and a Christian.”
He added: “I felt remaining in a position which, by its very nature, requires a good working relationship with the local MP would not be something I could do for both personal and ethical reasons.”
