After a dreary Monday with spells of rain and mild temperatures, Tuesday will see temperatures shoot up with Britain set to match parts of Spain.
It comes as a 600-mile 'subtropical swell' of warmer air sweeps in across the Atlantic.
Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst told The Sun Online: "It's likely to be a generally north-west to southeast split through Monday.
"There will be cloud and outbreaks of rain across the north and western parts of the UK.
"Eastern and southeastern parts of the country will generally have a drier day with some sunny spells.
"We'll also have quite a brisk westerly breeze across the UK, particularly across the north.
"And we could see gusts on Monday of around 30 to 35mph on the coast.
"In terms of temperature, it will stay around the mid to high teens for much of the country, so we're looking at between 15-18C but in the east this could rise to 21C with some bright skies."
Mr Dewhurst added that Tuesday will be "similar" - but said to expect a scorcher as temperatures soar into the mid-twenties.
He continued: "It will be much drier across the country with some sunny spells, with the best of those across east and southeastern regions.
"In terms of temperature it will be warmer, and we could see highs of 24C across East Anglia all the way down to London."
He added that in the northwest, lower temperatures of 18 or 19C could be expected as a result of patchy showers and clouds.
According to the Met Office, the highs of 24C make Britain as hot as many parts of Spain.
In Bilbao and Barcelona, the mercury will reach 24C on Tuesday afternoon, the says.

It comes as August saw largely miserable weather, with a band of rain sweeping across much of the UK yesterday and forecasts not set to improve for the rest of the week.
But this could all change, as Bookie Coral makes it evens for this month to be the hottest September on record in the UK ahead of next week's heatwave.
“Summer is going to return next week and with one last heatwave, our betting suggests this month could end as the hottest September on record,” said Coral's John Hill.
