Their parents went to the venue to wait for them and were 12ft from terrorist Salman Abedi when he detonated his suicide bomb.

The girls, from York, told an inquiry: “The pain and the loss that we feel is hard to explain.

“Our lives have been turned completely upside down.

“We have had to grow up quite quickly and deal with things we never thought we would have to deal with.

"We think about our parents all the time. We have lost our best friends and protectors."

Aleksandra, known as Alex, added that their parents' love was "incredibly strong” and “something we should all aspire to in life”.

She said: "They were so in love, as if they were teenagers without a care in the world, but most of all they were happy.

“They were soulmates and they didn't want to be without each other."

The blast in May 2017 killed 22 people. The inquiry continues.
