Sister, 3, of abused girl, 7, who begged docs to die mysteriously died in suffocation ‘accident’ at home
POLICE in Mexico have been urged to probe the mystery death of the sister of an abused girl who said she'd rather die than go home.
Yaz, seven, when she was admitted to hospital with a collapsed lung - weeks after sister Mitzi, three, died from "accidental asphyxiation".
Yaz's parents Alejandra and Rafael have both been arrested and charged with child abuse in Puebla, Mexico.
Her uncle is also wanted over claims he sexually abused her.
The shocking case emerged after Yaz was was taken to the Hospital de Las Margaritas in a critical condition in late August.
She had internal bleeding, a collapsed lung, burn marks on her back, cigarette burns on her arms and hands and signs of sexual assault.
According to a statement from doctors, the girl told them: "I want to die... I don't want to go back to my parents so that they keep hitting me."
Yaz had been in hospital three other times this year for a series of injuries including cut legs, intestinal damage and serious burns that needed skin grafts.
And in June, her sister Mitzi died from what was reported as "bronchial aspiration" - which means food or other objects in the lungs.
Police and prosecutors have been urged to examine her death again as more details of the family history were revealed.
CUSTODY BATTLE
Local reports claimed Rafael had dumped Alejandra last year after accusing her of cheating.
He reportedly believed Mitzi was not his biological daughter - but then won custody of both girls after accusing their mother of abuse.
They went to live with Rafael and his new girlfriend and three other children, reports claim.
One relative : "After that we did not see them well again. The girls began to have problems.
"Yaz began to be in poor health. They said that she had a fungus or bacteria in her stomach and when we saw her again, she was already shaved."
Court records show Yaz was injured and Mitzi died while in their father's custody, according to reports in Mexico.
Alejandra's family are outraged she has been charged with the same crimes as her estranged husband, insisting she was not there when the abuse occurred.
And she was even too afraid to attend Mitzi's funeral after Rafael accused her and her brother of hurting the kids, it is claimed.

Campaigners claim social services have been aware of the family's problems for a year but failed to stop the abuse.
Frida Guerrera, a woman's rights activist, believes Alejandra was also a victim of domestic violence and feared for her life.

She said: "If the Puebla authorities had done their job since January, when there were first indications the girl had suffered sexual violence, the girl would not be in hospital right now, and Mitzi would not be dead."
