Bethesda announces ‘rebooted’ versions of much loved Quake, Fallout and Elder Scrolls titles at E3

Video games firm reveals a very familiar looking line up of titles at global gaming event

The video games giant Bethesda has announced new versions of three of its most popular titles.

It is planning to release updated takes on the shooter Quake and the adventure games Skyrim and Fallout.

Bethesda showed off the "rebooted" franchises at the gaming festival E3.

Quake Champions will be a multiplayer game aimed at the growing e-sports sector, which features professional video gamers playing competitively to win large sums of cash.

"The game is designed for world class e-sports play at any level,” .

The game will be an ultra fast, intense version of the the game designed to be played online.

Quake was a follow up to Doom, a shoot 'em up considered one of the greatest of all time. Both titles were renowned for their multiplayer modes.

At E3, Bethesda also announced a title called Skyrim Remastered, which updates an old roleplaying game with new graphics.

Bethesda's nostalgia-fest didn't end there, because it also revealed plans to release a take on Fallout 4 which uses virtual reality to immerse players in a fantasy world.

Fallout 4 VR is a post-apocalyptic title set after a nuclear war, inviting players to explore the grim environs of a mutant-filled wasteland.

"Delving into a game of this type isn't made better by VR, it simply changes the experience," wrote tech site Pocket Lint.

"It's incredible to look around the world freely, to pretend to pet your dog and do all those silly in-between things you wouldn't contemplate doing with just the single controller and large telly."

As well as these three titles, Bethesda also announced a new version of Prey, a classic which tells the story of a native American who's abducted by aliens.

The new version will keep the name Prey and is , but a game in its own right.

The games designer also revealed a sequel to Dishonoured, which is called Dishonoured 2.

This title invites players to take on the role of an assassin and sneak through a world which changes based on players' decisions.
