Dramatic moment masked heavily armed officers nab ‘robbery gang’ in the middle of the day

Five men were arrested by plain-clothed officers whose faces were covered their faces using bandannas, caps and sunglasses

THIS is the moment armed cops dramatically swooped in on an alleged robbery gang they had supposedly staked out for weeks.

Plain-clothed officers covered their faces using bandannas, caps and sunglasses as they arrested five men in broad daylight on a Manchester street.

Carrying machine guns, handguns and Tasers, police bundled the suspects into the back of their van just before midday.

They had pulled over a stolen red Land Rover in Fallowfield, Manchester, just before they made the arrests.

One witness said: “There was a big crack. I’m not sure what it was. Nobody seems to be injured.”

Police said no gunshots had been reported and it’s not being treated as a firearms incident.
Onlooker say around 15 officers were at the scene for around 20 minutes.

A police spokeswoman told the that it is not believed the suspects were on route to commit a crime.

He said: “Greater Manchester Police arrested five men on Platt Lane at around 11.45am on Wednesday, June 15.

“All five were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and remain in police custody for questioning.

“Officers from Greater Manchester Police Tactical Firearms Unit attended and detained the men after disabling the stolen Land Rover the men were travelling in.

“No-one was injured.”
