Shocking video shows moment man is left PARALYSED as he is arrested by cops
Donovan Duran was an aspiring MMA fighter before the incident and has now filed a lawsuit
A VIDEO has been released showing the moment a MMA fighter was paralysed as he was arrested by police.
In the shocking footage Donovan Duran, 24, can be seen being apprehended by cops in La Junta, Colorado, in the U.S
His family had reported him as drunk and disorderly, and he was shown willingly being handcuffed and put in a police car.
But other later footage of the incident, which took place in December last year, shows Duran non-responsive – he has to be pulled out of the cop cruiser and put in a wheelchair.
Duran was not moving and he seemed unable to move his legs.
He had fractured his neck during the arrest, and was paralysed from the chest down.
The footage was released by the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office this week.
In April a grand jury said there were no fileable charges against Sergeant Vince Fraker and the other officer who was involved in the arrest.
The reported that although they thought Fraker was responsible – but that “cannot be the basis of any criminal charges.”
They said Duran put his hands behind his back as they got him out of the car, which they saw as an attempt to free himself.
In their account he was then rolled out of the car head-first by Fraker.
But Duran says they attacked him and told the newspaper: “They ruined my whole life.”
He also said that when he was in the hospital the staff did not believe him when he complained of neck pain and said he couldn’t feel his legs and said of one worker: “He got me all the way up to my feet, and I remember him being behind me. He had me by my waist and he just let go.

"I was dead weight. It was a hard fall. I remember my legs being two separate directions — like noodles dropping. I was like a sack of potatoes.”
Duran’s father, Eddie, believes his son was assaulted by cops: “I think they just got so frustrated with dealing with my son over the span of the weekend that one of them just went off and speared him from behind.
His attorneys filed a lawsuit on Monday in Denver against the city of La Junta and Fraker asking for damages,
The suit claims excessive force was used by Fraker, which was “outrageous and shocking to the conscience, in violation of Duran's substantive due process rights.”
