Man charged over Tamara Ecclestone raid that saw £50m jewels swiped from F1 heiress’ mansion
A MAN has been charged over a string of "high value" burglaries including the £50m raid on heiress Tamara Ecclestone's home.
Alessandro Maltese was flown into the UK from Italy yesterday, charged with conspiracy to commit burglary after the daughter of F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone's £70m Kensington mansion was robbed.
The Met Police have claimed Maltese, 44, was involved in conspiracies between November 30 last year and February 1.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 October.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "Alessandro Maltese was returned to the UK via Heathrow on Thursday, 15 October following his arrest in Italy under a European Arrest Warrant earlier this month."
Ms Ecclestone had left the country with her husband Jay Rutland for a three-week Christmas holiday the day their home was raided on December 13 last year.
Officers were called to the family's £70 million gated mansion with it claimed all of the heiress' jewellery had been stolen.
The mum was reportedly left "shaken" after the raid on the property - which sits on one of the most prestigious streets in London.

Ms Ecclestone lives at the property with her businessman husband Jay Rutland, 38, and Sophia, known as Fifi.
The area has been dubbed “Billionaires' Row”, with the average house price at £33million.
Prince William and wife Kate live nearby, and homeowners include Foxtons founder Jon Hunt, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the Sultan of Brunei and China’s richest man, Wang Jianlin.
