Man charged with rape and attempted murder after girl, 17, was ‘dragged out of Pizza Hut before being stabbed and sexually assaulted’

A MAN was today charged with offences including rape and attempted murder after a teenage girl was dragged out of a pizza restaurant before being stabbed and raped.
Police announced today that they had charged Costica Voedes with nine offences after a 17-year-old girl was attacked and stabbed in the abdomen.
The 32-year-old was arrested within 15 minutes of the girl being dragged out of the restaurant - where a member of staff who rushed to intervene was also attacked and injured.
It is said that Voedes then raped his victim at a nearby recreation ground.
Voedes was today in custody, preparing to face magistrates tomorrow morning.

Police officers swarmed the area and Voedes was arrested at the Court Recreation Ground off Pound Lane, less than half a mile away from the restaurant. The victim was discovered nearby moments later.
The arrest was made just 13 minutes after the attack was reported to the police.
Voedes was quizzed by detectives and charged with nine offences.
He has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of rape, kidnap, false imprisonment, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and common assault.
Voedes, of High Street, Epsom, is due to appear before magistrates in Redhill tomorrow.
His victim was rushed to St George's Hospital, Tooting, where she remains in a serious but not life threatening condition.
