Royal Mail unveil six special 2020 Christmas stamps telling the Nativity story in stained glass

SIX special 2020 Christmas stamps go on sale today telling the Nativity story in stained glass.

They feature real windows from UK churches.

Scenes from windows in six churches across the country cover a range of eras, styles and techniques.

The Nativity story is a common subject in stained-glass artistry.

Scenes often focused on the relationship between the new-born infant Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

The 2nd Class stamp shows the Adoration of the Magi from St Andrew’s Church in East Lexham, Norfolk.

The 1st Class depicts Mary and Jesus from St Andrew’s Church, Coln Rogers, Gloucs.

The £1.45 is also a Virgin and Child scene, from St James in Hollowell, Northants.

Philip Parker, of Royal Mail, said: "Our beautiful Christmas stamps feature the Nativity as told through the artistry of different styles of stained-glass windows."
