Cadbury slashes size of its selection box Fudge bars by 12 per cent to try to combat childhood obesity
CADBURY has shrunk the size of Fudge bars in selection boxes.
It comes two years after bosses tried to drop the bar from Christmas packs.
This year’s Fudge bars will be 22g instead of 25g, a shrinkage of 12 per cent. Cadbury owner Mondelez International says it is introducing a 100 calorie cap to try to combat childhood obesity.
But three out of six bars in the box — the Double Decker, Crunchie and Wispa — are still more than 100 calories. Dairy Milk Kids Bar and Treatsize Buttons are under 100 calories.
Overall, the weight of the chocolate inside the £2 selection box has dropped for the second year running. It was 169g in 2018, 153g last year and is now 150g.

In 2018 Mondelez, part of US giant Kraft Foods, removed Fudges from the festive mix and replaced them with Oreo bars.
Bosses caved after an outcry and they were back last year.
A spokesman said: “We want to continue to help support parents giving their children a treat they will enjoy but keeping it under 100 calories.”
