COPS have launched a probe after human remains were found near a Land Rover factory - just three miles from where the missing ‘milk carton’ kids were last seen in 1996.
Detectives are digging the site in Solihull, West Midlands, near to where schoolboys Patrick Warren and David Spencer disappeared 24 years ago.
A source said teenage bones from more than one body had been uncovered.
It comes after construction workers made the grim discovery near the Jaguar plant on Wednesday.
West Midlands Police have cordoned off the site, and confirmed that “the bones will undergo forensic and archaeological analysis”.
Yesterday morning, forensics officers formed a line before conducting a fingertip search of the site.
The search teams could be seen placing markers down as archaeologists examined the area.
A blue police tent has been placed in front of a digger, while part of the vehicle's caterpillar tracks have been covered with sheeting.
Police say there's no evidence a crime has been committed.
However, it's reported that officers have previously searched in the area in connection with the disappearance of schoolboys David, 13, and Patrick, 11.
The youngsters, who went missing on Boxing Day 1996, were dubbed the 'milk carton kids' after their faces were put on bottles of milk in the hope someone would come forward with information.
Cops say archaeological tests will also be carried out in a bid to discover exactly how old the bones are.
A force spokesperson said: "We’re investigating after human remains were discovered on land off Damson Parkway, Solihull, on Wednesday.
"The area has been cordoned off for further searches to be carried out.
"The bones will undergo forensic and archaeological analysis.
"There is no information linking them to a criminal investigation at this stage."
In August, two bin bags of human bones were found the River Stour in Sudbury, Suffolk.
The bags are believed to have thrown in the water after being carried in a shopping trolley.
The mum of missing airman Corrie McKeague feared the bones could be the remains of her son.
But officers were quickly able to tell Nicola Urquhart the find isn't connected to 23-year-old Corrie.
Corrie vanished on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, around 16 miles north of Sudbury, on September 24, 2016. He was stationed at RAF Honington.

Suffolk Police said the "most likely scenario" is that he went into a bin which was emptied into a lorry and ended up in the waste process.
No trace of him has been found.
