A former hitman jailed for the murder of two guards is being questioned over the death of a convicted child killer
ONE of Britain's most notorious "whole life" prisoners was being quizzed by cops today after an inmate was brutally murdered in a jail workshop.
Victim Sidonio Teixeira - a convicted child murderer - died shortly after the 9am attack at top security Long Lartin prison near Evesham, Worcs.
He tied them up, forced them into a cash cage and doused them with white spirit before setting them alight.
Filipino Castigador, an illegal immigrant, is one of around 50 “whole life” tariff cons in British jails who are unlikely ever to be released.
Who is Victor Castigador? The sick double murderer's crimes revealed
Born in the Philippines in 1954, Castigador came to the UK as an illegal immigrant in 1985.
It was in 1989 that he led a robbery of the amusement arcade where he worked after developing a grudge against the owner.
Castigador and his four accomplices held the two security guards and the manager and the cashier up at gunpoint, stealing cash. But Castigador then stayed behind with one of the accomplices, with the pair locking their victims into a cage before dousing them with white spirits. They then set the group on fire, fleeing the scene.
The two Sri Lankan security guards died but the cashier and manager survived despite burns to 30 per cent of their bodies. They then were able to identify Castigador and his accomplices.
Castigador was jailed for the minimum recommendation of 25 years but the penalty was then tightened to whole life in jail.
