LOTTO DEATH SMASH

Mega Lottery winner Matt Topham accused of killing gran when his powerful BMW ploughed into her Fiesta on Christmas Day

BRITAIN’S youngest mega lottery winner has appeared in court charged with killing a grandmother in a horror smash on Christmas Day.

Racing-mad Matt Topham, who scooped £45 million aged 23, is alleged to have been at the wheel of his powerful BMW when he smashed into the Ford Fiesta carrying Mary Jane Regler, 75.

The millionaire - who owns and races a fleet of Aston Martins - was questioned by cops and charged over the death, which also left Ms Regler’s husband Rodney Regler with serious injuries.

It is believed Mr Topham had been visiting relatives in the Louth area of Lincolnshire before the smash near a village called North Cockerington last December 25.

The victims are also understood to have been returning home following a Christmas visit before the crash at 5.50pm.

Despite being investigated by cops the ex-builder continued to race and won the Donnington GT Cup Championship this year in his own £240,000 Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

His racing website was mysteriously deleted last month.

He also owns his own helicopter and has a hangar at his Lincolnshire mansion.

The Sun told last week how seemingly happy Matt was still with wife Cassey and had spent £600,000 on a petting zoo for his wife’s mum Jane, including a raccoon dog and llamas.

His EuroMillions cash won in 2012 also helped buy horses, pigs, ducks and a falconry centre packed with barn owls, Gyr falcons, Harris Hawks and a sea eagle.

Jane - mum to Matt’s wife Cassey, 31 - runs the visitor site at Rushmoor Country Farm with other daughters Jade, 27 and Alicia, 22.

Both his siblings Samantha, 27, and brother Craig, 23 live in their own houses - with the elder’s house bought for her in cash by her brother and sister-in-law.

His dad, ex-decorator Brian, 76, has stayed put in the same £240,000 semi since his son’s win - but now lives mortgage free and drives a Porsche.

Mr Topham is accused of causing the death of Mary Jane Regler, and causing serious injury to Rodney Leslie Regler.

He appeared at Lincoln crown court by video link from his home on Thursday.

The indictment was not put to him and he has entered no pleas. The case was adjourned.
