Horrific video shows pups packed into storeroom waiting to be butchered for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival
Animal rights activists stormed the cellar to rescue hundreds of dogs awaiting execution
A GROUP of animal rights activists have rescued hundreds of pups destined for the cooking pot at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.
Volunteers joined Marc Ching and the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation to save the dogs from mass slaughterhouses.
The horrific video shows huge crowds of the cute pets stuffed inside a small room running around the campaigners’ legs.
The shocking storeroom is thought to be a ‘pantry’ for keeping the dogs before they are killed and boiled alive to be eaten.
Activist Ching said that these slaughterhouses can hold thousands of doomed canines.
He said: “There will be over a thousand dogs.
"A thousand lives that need help to find haven. I do not know where to go. I do not know how to find the help we need for the effort."
Ching set up the animal rights charity with his director Valerie, but the fledgling foundation does not have enough room to house every dog.

Around 10,000 dogs are killed at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival every year.
The poor pups are either clubbed to death or have their throats slit.
They are then skinned and dropped into boiling water.
But over the entire year, 10 million dogs are eaten by Chinese people.
The practice has been around for 500 years as it is believed that the meat helps to ward off the summer heat.
It was recently found by animal rights campaigners that the majority of dogs killed for the festival are stolen domestic pets.
Many of the pups saved by activists were still wearing their collars and tags when they were rescued.
It is also feared that dog meat eaters could also be poisoned if they ate animals who had rabies.
According to China’s ministry for public health, the Guanxi province, where Yulin is found, has the highest number of cases of human rabies in China.
The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation are not the only animal rights group to try and stage an intervention against the inhumane festival.
