Horrific video shows pups packed into storeroom waiting to be butchered for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival
Animal rights activists stormed the cellar to rescue hundreds of dogs awaiting execution
A GROUP of animal rights activists have rescued hundreds of pups destined for the cooking pot at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.
Volunteers joined Marc Ching and the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation to save the dogs from mass slaughterhouses.
The horrific video shows huge crowds of the cute pets stuffed inside a small room running around the campaigners’ legs.
The shocking storeroom is thought to be a ‘pantry’ for keeping the dogs before they are killed and boiled alive to be eaten.
Activist Ching said that these slaughterhouses can hold thousands of doomed canines.
He said: “There will be over a thousand dogs.
"A thousand lives that need help to find haven. I do not know where to go. I do not know how to find the help we need for the effort."
Ching set up the animal rights charity with his director Valerie, but the fledgling foundation does not have enough room to house every dog.
He said: "The world wanted the festival to end, and we are here trying to end it.
"We need local rescues to step in. I can take 100 dogs, maybe 200. But that is all."
