Pub owner forced to throw 50 workers on the dole if Boris Johnson cancels Xmas
A PUBLICAN will be forced to close all five of his boozers if Boris Johnson cancels Christmas — throwing 50 of his workers on the dole.
Christian Burns’ grandfather, dad and sons have all run pubs in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
His business now boasts a £4million-a-year turnover.
But the pubs boss has vowed to call time once and for all next month if he is denied vital festive takings.
The 62-year-old — in the trade for 40 years — told The Sun: “I’ve already had to let 30 staff go. I’m very close to calling it a day now.
“I’d planned to grow the business this year but the £4million I hoped to take is down to £200,000.
“If Boris cancels Christmas the decision to close will be made for me. It’s heart-breaking to see so many people in my business at their wit’s end with so much mental anguish.
"People with families are dazed and bemused.
