Pub launches £1.99 ‘Boris Menu’ to lure in Tier 2 drinkers with ‘substantial’ meals such as beans on toast
A SAVVY landlord has launched a £1.99 "Boris Menu" to entice Tier 2 drinkers who don't want to fork out on a "substantial meal".
The King's Head in Essex is offering bargain meals to lure boozers back in when lockdown lifts tomorrow - including beans on toast and hotdogs.

Pub owner Matthew Arnold says the items on the "Boris Menu" are not the "most accomplished" but count as a substantial meal under Tier 2 restrictions.
Other meals to enjoy with a long-awaited pint include garlic bread or battered cod dippers for 99p.
Punters can also tuck into a £1.99 burger and chips or a vanilla cheesecake for just 99p.
Matthew told Essex Live: "Every time a new regulation is implemented it incurs a lot of time and cost for pubs to abide.
"It's the frustration that prompted the menu idea initially at the same time as catering for customers that don't necessarily want a large and costly meal each time they want to visit us."
Wetherspoons is also launching a new breakfast menu starting from £1.99 ahead of its pubs reopening tomorrow.
Customers will be able to choose from four new breakfast muffins – egg and bacon, egg and sausage, breakfast with bacon and sausage, and egg and cheese.
Pubs will reopen across England tomorrow as lockdown lifts and the tier system is re-introduced.
But there has been some confusion over Tier 2 rules, which state pubs must serve substantial meals or close.
The measures have sparked a debate over what counts as a substantial meal - with a bizarre row rumbling on over scotch eggs.
