Head teacher Gary Vyse warned parents that pupils caught flouting the rules will face disciplinary action

A head teacher has banned students from wearing false eyelashes, foundation and fake tan.

Claiming school is not a 'fashion parade', Gary Vyse, head teacher at the Hundred of Hoo Academy, said it was a form of 'no excuses discipline'.

Students caught flouting the new rules at the beginning of the next academic year will face disciplinary action at the school in Rochester, Kent.

The hardliner wrote to parents: "A school is not a fashion parade.

"There are, however, far reaching corners of our community who are not being supportive of their child by allowing them to arrive at the academy in makeup, which includes heavily drawn on eyebrows, heavy foundation, bronzer, fake tan, lipstick and false eyelashes."

He appealed to parents to support the decision.

He wrote: "No excuses discipline is not to be parodied as a cruel heartless system administered by ogres or monsters that do not care about children.

"In fact nothing could be further from the truth.

"If we truly care for our children, 'no excuses discipline' is in fact, the best available option to them.

"In choosing your child to learn at the Hundred of Hoo Academy you do so in understanding the academy's code of conduct, and you support the academy's issuing of sanctions."
